We are now a registered nonprofit in the state of California! WOOHOO! A huge thank-you to everyone who donated during our fundraising drive last fall. Because of you, we reached our first goal and will be able to give back to the community more than ever before.
The next step is to apply for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. If we can achieve this status, any subsequent donations made to Sea Sisters will be tax-deductible.
Our plan for allocation of funds received is to award scholarships to students attending maritime academies and USCG-approved vocational training facilities; to contribute to maritime youth programs such as Sea Scouts; and to hold annual networking events that bring women together to foster connections and camaraderie in the community. Donations will also allow us to keep our site up and running to its fullest capacity.
We are planning for a retreat in September 2019, and will be fundraising for that event in the coming months.
If you would like more information about how we allocate donations received, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will discuss our funding goals with you.
